Meet a live opossum up close at Ijams Nature Center, 2915 Island Home Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37920, on Friday, November 6, 2026, from 6 to 7 p.m. An Ijams educator brings out one of the center's animal ambassadors for an hour on what opossums actually do for the East Tennessee ecosystem — ticks, snakes and all — plus a nature-journaling session. Built for ages 5 and up. Tickets are $10 plus a 25-cent service fee, registration is required, and an assumption-of-risk form has to be completed before the program starts. Note this one meets at the main visitor center, not the Playscape lot down the road. More info: https://www.ijams.org/event-details/playing-possum-animal-ambassador-meet-greet-2026-11-06-18-00
